Mandala - End of Trail - Native American Art
Among Native Americans, the mandala represents a means of connection with God. It is about 12" in diameter, made of real deerskin with the symbol End of the trail meaning the decimation of the Amerindian population due to the expansion towards the west.
The meaning of the mandala is in many ways the same as that found in other cultures. Native Americans believed that the form represents:
- The circle of life and the path from birth to death
- The unification of man, nature and the spiritual in a cyclical form
- A way to communicate with creators
