Mandala - Indian Skull Painting - Native American Art
Among Native Americans, the mandala represents a means of connection with God. This one is about 16" in diameter, a magnificent painting depicting an Indian on horseback holding a buffalo skull in the sky and praying for guidance.
The meaning of the mandala is in many ways the same as that found in other cultures. Native Americans believed that the form represents:
- The circle of life and the path from birth to death
- The unification of man, nature and the spiritual in a cyclical form
- A way to communicate with creators
